A lack of empathy towards one’s loved ones, especially aged parents, makes me very mad.

It is very convenient for us to forget the extent to which our parents have cared for us. Right from our birth, they have stood by us, and ensured a good upbringing to the best of their capabilities, without ever giving us a chance to complain.
Quite often, I witness my friends display unacceptable behavior towards their aged folks. The most common observation is moving their parents to a nursing home, despite being financially capable of shouldering responsibility of providing the care required by them at that frail age.

It annoys and saddens me to discover this careless attitude in people who want to move their care-givers away into seclusion without giving it a second thought. Isn’t it a shameful and despicable act?

The very same parents, who have been abandoned, suddenly become dear, when it is time to share and distribute their life’s inheritance. This shallowness in people’s thoughts and actions can make me seethe with anger. Even after the display of such ungrateful behavior from their children, they seldom utter a word of protest.

As they say, “what goes around comes around”. It is just a matter of time before the ruthless youngsters get a taste of their own medicine, in their old age.

Small acts of kindness go a long way. Compassion, caring and warmth of a loving relationship will ensure a smile on these deserving faces and make their life much more pleasant. One fact that I’m absolutely certain about is that I will care and nurture my folks as and when they age, and in my own way, offer my thanks to them for making me what I am today.

Introduction

Quentin Tarantino can be seen as a unique and entertaining figure in cinematic history. The power he has wielded within the film industry comes from writing about all he knows – from old and obscure films to fast food and popular television shows – pop culture and genre traditions will continue to be Quentin Tarantino’s life within his works, but what is interesting to see is how he feeds these elements of life back into those very same traditions. The purpose of this dissertation is to reveal some of what lies beneath the surface of Tarantino’s work explaining some of the images and techniques that have become his hall mark. There has been much criticism over the years about the work of this ex video store clerk, yet I would argue that he could be seen as one of the most charismatic voices in cinema today. This is due to his daring style, which is characterized by the use of witty dialogues, his unique structures and generally making movies about the movies.

From this I feel a need to prove through a lengthy discussion of his recognized qualities that Tarantino’s works are not necessarily artless and that they do function on an entertaining level. What I aim to do in Chapter One is discuss the formal traits of this director’s work. I will examine and identify the key concerns of Tarantino’s main texts: how he revitalized the art of film dialogue, rejected linear narrative style and his use of repeated images and motifs.

Chapter Two will then take a closer look at the underlying social discourses and debates within Tarantino’s productions. I want to find out through a discussion of gender and race whether he is just using such issues to entertain or if this director is actually talking about the outside world of cinema through his works. I will endeavour to find out whether he wanted simply a reaction from his audience, usually one of disgust, or if he presents issues that cause reactions for their own sake.

THE WORLD TARANTINO LIVES IN: PLOT, STORY AND STYLE

Popular cinema of the nineties saw some radical and interesting experiments with predictable notions of narrative, time and logic. What first became apparent when watching any of the Tarantino films being looked at in this dissertation is the stress placed on the chosen plot, story and style in each one. This chapter shall look into the formal aspects of how Tarantino expanded upon the ideas of this postmodern era, the director is seen to redeem and recast the pulp of postmodernism by embedding in the texts, narratives of re-invention and re-birth. Tarantino is definitely regarded as a director with something to say. He is very cinematically literate and familiar to the limits of screen tension. He is so certain of how far to stretch a sequence’s credibility without losing the audience that he can keep violence funny, produce honour amongst criminals and turn the bad guys into the good guys thus resulting the ability to get rid of a good character all together. I believe that he is not a visual cinematic genius, yet he does keep the viewer on their toes because of the way he places the camera or the way he moves it. Film analysis centred on the director has been around since the beginnings of the auteur theory in the fifties. The main focus on this theory is on visual style on the way in which films are composed and constructed for the viewer As I will discuss further in this chapter, since it seems to be nearly impossible to name a genre for Tarantino’s films, the director’s name is being used to indicate a certain style in cinema, a genre of his own even, Tarantino-esque. It is obvious indeed that Tarantino’s style has a certain flavour to it; a common cinematic style, common story elements and perhaps an image that is characteristic to his films. It is within this section of the assignment that I will discuss the aspects of Tarantino’s work that could perhaps make him one of the greatest contributors to contemporary cinema.

Toying with Chronology and Narrative Structure

A striking and popularly noticed feature within the films of this highly acclaimed director is his chosen method of narrative structure, the chronology of the film’s story from start to finish. Within the postmodern world the approach towards narrative is well known. Foucault, who believed that a narrative with a beginning middle and an end was no longer satisfactory, made an analysis of narrative structures, Narrative, which posits an enabling beginning point and a vindicating goal, is no longer adequate for plotting the human trajectory in society. There is nothing to look forward to: we are stuck within our circle I believe that Tarantino thought along these lines too. The rotating mini narratives that he adopts do not have this basic set of implications. Pulp Fiction is his finest example of this as it has a very clear circular path, the film does not conform to mainstream narrative structure, and it is only comprehensible because we as viewers hold on to an understanding of narrative and formal conventions through our experience of the mainstream. It is rebellious in the way that it manipulates all usual plot structures by twisting time to satisfy its own organization. The segmented structure is Tarantino’s way of playing with the audience’s perceptions. Due to the large amount of entertaining content throughout the film, the audience is forced to piece together the segments in order to form one complete story. It is constructed in such a non-linear way that you could see it a dozen times and not be able to remember what comes next. It doubles back on itself telling several interlocking stories about characters that inhabit a world of crime. Placing the scenes out of chronological order is a very postmodern idea, it could be said that the end product also creates an alarm in the audience because the totally irrational happens and the audience is left to deal with that, Postmodern society is characterized by instantaneity which makes it difficult for individuals to set events in their context; it is if everything is here and now. In the one scene John Travolta’s character, Vincent Vega is shot and in the very next scene that same person

Tarantino shows us within his films that life can be compelling, enjoyable and utterly fulfilling. He includes elements that run close to life, if an audience wants to draw a social message from them (it is within my second chapter that I have shown it to be possible) then all the more beneficial for Tarantino as a film director. Such social criticism can only heighten his media persona, creating great interest from an audience who will long to return and be entertained once more.

Idealism, the philosophical view that mind and spirit constitutes fundamental reality.
Many people admire idealism, but it usually leads to disappointment or trouble.

Idealism is something, which is fancied. It is what our conscious mind thinks, which is unaware of reality. The things that cannot be practically obtained are ideal. There is no co-relation between practical world and ideal world. But our expectations of converting it into ideal are so high that ultimately we end in disappointment. Idealism is abstract and not concrete.

It is a tantalizing concept.
If idealism had been tangible the world would have been utopia and not the chaos, which the human being is facing today. The ideal government would be the government in which every citizen will get the necessary things of life. There will not be anyone hungry or without clothes or education. Empirically it is impossible to achieve because of various real life deterrents. We expect it from the new political leader whom we chose becomes President. As he could not achieve it we disappoint. Why this happens, because we have unreal expectations from someone. The ideal society would be the society where everybody will be treated equally, no racism. We expect it but in reality still there are different clubs for white and black people. There is reserved quota in every college or university for ethnically deprived people. In ideal environment nobody should be deprived of any sorts.

It leads to disappointment.
Idealism and materialism are two different polls. Idealism is not empirical. If we could relate it to practical life and set the tangible goals then it would not lead to disappointment. But there are always some practical difficulties, which our mind overlooks. As a result come disappointment and trouble. If Gandhi would have faced the reality that many Muslims and Hindus were not interested in living together under one government then probably he would not have faced the disappointment of division. But he wanted ideal Hindustan intact. As a human being fails to keep focus on the empirical and dogmatic views, he could not relate the ideal things with practical. Which results into disappointment and trouble. The tangible goals, or expectations do not lead into disappointment.

Most people think that work starts when you either turn sixteen and can work in the local grocery market, or when you turn thirty and finally land yourself a career such as a teacher, secretary, lawyer, doctor, etc. However this is very untrue. Work starts at about the age of five. As soon as a young child steps their foot into preschool, nursery school, or kindergarten, they start their first of many years of hard work ahead of them. With thirteen years ahead, they will begin to learn to read, write, do algebra, learn geography, study science, learn how to write proper sentences, etc.

As a student you take on many responsibilities. First you must learn at what pace you need to work at a specific subject, which can take many years of work. Some students learn at a slower or faster pace than others. This can make it hard on the teachers and the other students in the class, therefore it is your responsibility to learn if a specific subject is your weakness or strength. Being in a class with students that learn the material slower than you can be very boring and can take interest away from the class and cause yourself and others to get into unnecessary troubles. At the same time, it can be very frustrating to you if you are in a class that learns the material faster than you. This can cause you to become lost and lose interest which is probably one of the top reasons why students fail a grade or subject. As a student, you also need to be pervasive and hard-working so you can go after what you want to get out of your education.

As a student, responsibility was one of the first qualities I learned. For example, when I was in second grade I had a hard time learning why homework was so important. I never did my assignments, yet I told my parents I did. Finally, one day my teacher called my parents and told them that I have not been doing my homework. My parents then had a talk with me and told me how important homework is. “Even though you may not think homework is helping you, it does. It reinforces what you have done in class,” my mom said. Ever since I did my best to do my homework and then realized that she was right. One of the best things I ever did was join the soccer team at my middle school. In order to play, you must maintain a passing average (65 or above) to stay in the sport. Because I love soccer so much, I make sure that I do my homework. Being pervasive and hard-working was mostly taught to me through soccer. In order to play in games I must work hard at practice. I use this analogy with school work. In order to pass the test I must work hard in class and on my homework. Success in the classroom is very important to success in your career. If you do not work hard in school, most likely you will not work hard in your career.

Everyone has a different perspective on what a healthy lifestyle is, but it really comes down to practicing good health habits and giving up harmful ones. With a healthy lifestyle you can only get positive reinforcements out of it, such as feeling good; you will have more energy, sleep better and be more relaxed, looking good; you will have a nice toned body, strong muscles, bright eyes healthy hair and skin, and most important you will be happy; you will have a better outlook on life. To begin per-say a new “life” you start with small steps, simple changes. Which will produce big changes in time. Two major factors I will be talking about today are healthy eating and exercising.

Healthy eating will surely gave you a edge on weight loss(PAUSE) here are some ideas to try are: eat breakfast, which I believe a lot of people skip because they don’t have time but eating breakfast stimulates how you feel for the rest of the day and also and may slow down your metabolism. Eat more fruits and vegetables; many people have a problem with this because they don’t buy them. When going grocery shopping hit the produce side first and keeping your fruit on the counter, which will be a reminder to eat them. When eating a salad, use a little bit of salad dressing. Only use 1 tablespoon. Let the dressing coat not drench the salad. When eating meat choose reduced fat or the leanest cuts. Also make sure you trim all the visible fat and drain the grease. Now fried foods, they are very high in fat and clog your arteries so try to stay away or limit the intake to very little. After dinner you always seem to have a little room for desert, if you just have to have the sweets cut down on the portion size, substitute with low-fat or fat-free goods, or choose fruit. But before you go out and buy all types of fat-free or low-fat foods and scarf them down remember they have calories so just eat everything in moderation. Another big problem is eating out, which tends to be good but very fatting and high in calories, so when ordering, you could order a lean roast beef sandwich, grilled chicken, keep portions small, and remember no cheese. And here are few weight loss tips: brush your teeth after you eat to help prevent snacking, and if you must snack eat small portions such a pretzels, whole grain cereal, pop corn, or rice cakes. Drink 8 glasses of a water a day, try to take a morning walk, avoid fried foods, don’t eat 2 hours before bed, cut back or down on alcohol, cigarettes, and caffeine and keep track of what you eat.

Another factor of living a healthy lifestyle is exercising. Regular exercises reduce the risk of heart disease, high blood pressure, and diabetes. Making time to exercise 20 mins a day 3 times a week for a start will make a world of difference as long as your keep it regular. A few type of exercises are aerobic which burns fat calories very quickly and improves and maintains heart and lung fitness. Some examples are dancing, jogging, and swimming. Next it Callisthenic exercises which is good for warm-ups or cools downs, this improves muscle endurance. Examples are chin-ups, sit-ups, and push-ups. Another one is High Resistance exercise, which is very important for athletes; examples are heavy weight training and sprints.

We made research paper based on different thesis of health lifestyle.

The top 5 fitness thesis are:

assess your fitness level and set goals. Be realistic at this one you cant just lose weight in a day it takes time, so just don’t gave up

find the exercise right for you. This means be reasonable with your self if your are just starting out don’t set your self to run 3 miles a day, there will be no way and you will get tired of working out and just stop, so try walking around your block a few times and left 3-5 pds weights. Find something you enjoy to do and that will help you stick with it longer.

Cardiovascular Exercise: & How much? With cardiovascular or aerobic exercises there are many choices such as how long you do it and at what intensity at which you do it

Resistance Training, strength training, increase muscle mass which the more muscle you have the more calories you are able to burn and it improves strength and balance

Design a program and stay motivated. Just staying motivated and happy with your program you will see results with your self right after working out the first time. Some safety tips for exercising are choose a exercise program that is appropriate for you, dress appropriately for the weather, don’t not exercise if you are unwell, if you have pains in joints, feet, or legs, don’t exercise within 2 hours of a meal, in the middle of the day, and don’t take a hot shower or sit in a sauna immediately after wait awhile to cool down. Always warm up and cool down and drink plenty of fluids before, during, and after working out. Always try to fit in a work out for example if you have only ten minutes you can increase you energy level with 1 minute warm up; walk in place 2 minutes do lunges 2 minutes do push ups 2 minutes do sit ups or crunches then 2 minutes stretch. That little workout could help you in the long runyt

Remember just doing some type of activity is always burning calories. With healthy eating and exercising you are the one in control in the start of your new “life”
